I can log in to SEPM web access web console 'localhost:8443', but 'Home' appears white, 'Monitors' and 'Reports' all ask for additional login credentials for 'Symantec Reporting', and 'Policies' 'Clients' and 'Admin' are all accessible.

    Hi,

It can be related to DNS.

When you access SEPM web console through IE, please try to access with IP address instead of hostname or vice versa (if you are trying with IP).

    Chetan Savade :
Thank you, I have tried this and it did not work.

    Vikram Kumar :
Thank you, I have restarted the services, the server, used ODBC to confirm the database is healthy & working, etc.

If I use the Java Client, it will allow me to log in, but then kick me back to the login prompt nearly imediately

If I use the web console, it will allow me to log in, but 'Home, Monitors, Reports' do not load.
    >IE reports a certificate error (the SEP 11 server is the local host).
    >>I get a prompt after logging in of 'Do you want to view only the webpage content tht was delivered securely?'
    >>>If I say 'yes', 'Home, Monitors, Reports' all show 'navigation to web page was cancled'
    >>>If I say 'no', 'Home' is blank, and 'Monitors, Reports' both have a login prompt for 'Symantec Reporting'.  If I try to log in using any / all addresses I can think of for the SEP11 installation / domain admin / local admin, I get the error 'Unable to login because there is no session'

What browser are you using to view the Webpage?

Try using something else, like Firefox or *cough* Safari.

If it loads up, you may be blocking unsecure content or certain types of scripts from a GPO in your IE settings...

Certificate error is normal, kind of, if you are using an HTTPS site without having a signed certificate from a CA (Certifica Authority).  You could of course create one yourself and self sign it, but browser would like grumble about it not being digitally signed by a "legit" authority...

I am using IE8 , Firefox, and the Java client. The browsers have the same error, the Jave client doesn't  work at all.

IE8 reports security errors in the site's certificate, which is weird as it is the localhost / ip / fqdn.

When running HTTPS, the system autmagically always wants a validated certifcate.

You can set the site to ignore the certificate warning in Firefox and in IE you can set the site to be in your "trusted sites" or "local intranet".  Remember to heck the box for HTTPS.

That being said, you are running this on a Windows 2008 Server with IIS 7?

    To create a self-signed certificate

    1. Open IIS Manager and navigate to the level you want to manage. For information about opening IIS Manager, see Open IIS Manager (IIS 7). For information about navigating to locations in the UI, see Navigation in IIS Manager (IIS 7).

    2. In Features view, double-click Server Certificates.

    3. In the Actions pane, click Create Self-Signed Certificate.

    4. On the Create Self-Signed Certificate page, type a friendly name for the certificate in the Specify a friendly name for the certificate box, and then click OK.

What happens when you go to the reporting web site?

    http://localhost:8014/Reporting
(try it with IP/hostname/FQDN, too, if localhost fails)

If it's failing to deliver the content, turn on IIS logging and check the IIS requests for the HTTP error (set of numbers at the end of the line in the log). Is it 400 series? 500 series?
