  • 1.  Can SEP12 virus definitions be used with SEP11 Clients and Mgmt Console?

    Do not want to upgrade to SEP12 yet from SEP11, so would like to know if SEP12 virus definitions are backwards compatible?

    They have their own set. The manager will download both.

    If you go to Admin >> Servers >> Local Site >> Show LiveUpdate downloads, you will see what is needed and downloaded.

    Hi,

    Thank you for posting in Symantec community

    SEPM 12.1 can manage SEP 11.x clients however SEP 12.1 client will not use the SEP 11.x definitions on the client machine. It uses their own set of definitions.

    In case you are not aware, Endpoint Protection 11.x and Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition (SBE) 12.0 were both scheduled to reach End of Limited Support (EOLS) on 5 January 2015.

    No they are not, they are like two different products

    You can install SEPM 12.x and manage both 11.x and 12.x clients 

    SEPM 12.x will download defs for both 11.x and 12.x clients ,LU_Downloads.png

    As per my understanding you want to be manage the sep 12.1 client defintion from 11.x sepm.

    It not be possible they can only be display here but definition will not be update

    I am recommend you to get the benefit of 12.x fix and feature and defintion update time to time then you can upgrade your SEPM in 12.1 ru4 mp1a.

    Hi,

    We are currently on Version SEP 12.0.1001.95.

    Kindly let me know the upgraded version of the same to deploy on the servers

    and subsequent Client Installation.
