  • 1.  Can SEPM RU6 MP3 manage/update an RU7 client?

    All my servers are running RU6 MP3 including the SEPM.  I have a single server that is crashing that I think RU7 might fix according to the RU7 release notes.  I'm not ready to upgrade SEPM to 12.1 or RU7.  I would like to upgrade the one client server to RU7 and leave the SEPM on RU6 MP3, so that I can upgrade to 12.1 soon.  To make this work I just need to know if the RU6 MP3 SEPM can update and manage the single RU7 client?

    (by "update" I mean signature files, not the SEP client software itself, I know RU6 MP3 cannot push the RU7 upgrade, I will manually install the RU7 package on the server assuming I can get confirmation that the U6 MP3 SEPM can manage its policies and update its definitions)

    Yes it should work. I have SEPM and all of my clients on RU6 MP2 and needed to update a few managed clients to MP3. So far I don't see any issues with updates and policies

    Great thinks I will upgrade the client server to RU7 and confirm if the RU6 SEPM manages it properly.  I will report back here if all goes well in case it helps anyone else down the line.

    I will even tell you that my SEPM 11 server managed 12.1 clients during the Beta. Now I wouldn't recommend this example but it worked.
