Can Sharepoint be installed upon a server with SMP 7.1 installed (for development purposes)?

Does anyone know if Sharepoint can be installed upon a server which aleady has SMP 7.1 installed? This is just for development and testing purposes, not Production. I would NEVER attempt that!

Er, just tried it...
I just tried it and although SharePoint is a happy bunny, Altiris Console gives me a 404 error, which make me think that something is pulling all of the traffic from Altiris to SharePoint. I have to build another server :-(

Possibly
It's possible you could do this if you work with the bindings in IIS. I haven't tried it but that's likely your problem, is that there are multiple claims on the same binding for IIS. I would also try letting Altiris have the Default Web Site and install SharePoint into a different site, if possible.

SharePoint installed itself in another website...
Mike,
Yes, SharePoint installed into another website and left Altiris and SD in the Default Web Site, but SMP and SD stopped working. I could not see why Default Web Site stopped working at the time.
I have created another server as my SP server now.
Kindest regards,
