Can someone explain the difference between the Backup exec 2012 v ray and Symantec System receovery 2012 ?

Can someone explain the difference between the Backup exec 2012 v ray and Symantec System receovery 2012 ?

Aren't they essentially the same thing ?

Hello Chris,

     Backup Exec (BE) and Symantec System Recovery (SSR) are basically two different software using two different method of backing the data. Backup Exec is file level backup software whereas SSR is more of Sector level backup software.

    Backup Exec 2012 V-Ray edition is Licensing feature which focusses more on the backups (licenses) of Virtualization software so that user does not have to buy different licenses for each different application that he has in the environment.

So there is no similarity in BE V-ray edition and SSR... other than they both are backup software from Symantec.
