    Hello,

I'm not sure about that but you can't do that manually because spam signatures doesn't downloaded to appliances same method as virus defs. Every 10 minutes it take anti-spam definitions.

So if we able to load it manually it'll be hard to load it every time.

Sorry, this is no way to do this. Our products need an open connection on port 443 to aztec.brightmail.com.

If we are not updating SPam defintions for a period of 4-5 days, then does brightmail stop spam into domain?

How long can we stop spam from entering into our domain without updating spam defintions?

Lets come at this a different way....   WHY do you feel the need for manual updates to virus and spam definitions?  What about your environment makes this desirable?

Like the virus definitions, the the last spam definition the appliance downloads is in effect.  But... for me, most of the blocking is due to the Symantec Global Reputation process which is dynamic and needs an active connection.

    Hi Prasad,

As others have pointed out, this shouldn't be necessary. The Symantec Global Bad Senders IP list is queried via DNS and you should be getting updated anti-spam rules from our servers every few minutes.

If your spam definitions haven't updated in 4-5 days as you mentioned, you should open a case with Technical Support to investigate the reasons why. You'll still have spam scanning but with lower effectiveness as spam attacks change very quickly - hence the reason why we deliver new filters so quickly.

    Hope that helps,

    Amanda
