Can you remove "Can you solve these?" please?

After enduring it for a few months, my uneducated conclusion is that all the "Can you solve these?" list of threads is good for is getting people to leave brand new worthless responses to threads from September.  The original posters are almost always long gone and clearly not interested in responses any more or they would have bumped their own threads long before they appeared in that box.

Is anybody on Connect actually realizing value in including that list of threads in every forum beyond the point harvesters and people who don't even look at original post dates when replying?

Can we get it removed?

...I don't see why. Not all

...I don't see why. Not all of them are from months back, so it still gives people the option to read them, and post if necessary. After a period of time the system would close the query off anyway, and those posts that are worthless can be marked as spam, or highlighted with a PM to an admin.

Unless you're checking every single post there, why not simply ignore it if it doesn't affect you?

If you find this is a solution, please mark it as such.

Unless you're checking every single post there

Yes, in fact I do check every single post there - that's why I feel that I'm offering an informed opinion in telling you how unhelpful I believe "Can You Solve These?" is.

Unless the subject is also

Unless the subject is also precisely reflecting the message, IMHO, it is a worthless one only to ambiguate and spam search engines. At least for those unrelated threads you can tag a "noindex, nofollow" attributes at least to consider saving search indexing.

CRZ, Consider adding your

CRZ,

Consider adding your suggestion to the Ideas section where we can track how many users feel the way you do.

Thanks,

I considered it - but I decided to post here instead...

Hi Leslie,

No offense, but I think we all know that "Ideas" is where ideas go to die.  (Example)

I also can't say I recall the addition of the "Can you solve these?" box ever being submitted as an Idea...yet it happened.

My only hope as I see it is to make a convincing argument and catch the eye of a sympathetic admin.  Since I have probably just sabotaged that in leaving THIS reply, I'll consider this fool's errand over and find something new to rant about.  wink

I have actually seen a few

I have actually seen a few where the original users have come back after some time and perhaps part of the reason for abandoned threads is the lack of the auto subscrition which i have raised in the suggestions area.

So maybe an automated PM to the original thread creator when their post appears in the "Can you solve these" window asking them if they are still interested in their own post?
