Can you run non-hierarchy replication from a 7.5 NS to a 7.1 NS

As part of of upgrading our Altiris 7.1 (MP1.1) system which contains child NS's (managed by hierarchy) and stand alone NS's wherwe the data is replicated using non hierarchy replication rules.

As the upgrade will take place in stages (from child to parent) we need to know if it's feasible for a 7.5 child NS to replicate it's data to a 7.1 parent NS in the short term.

    Hi Thunder_Chicken,

You mean that non-hierarchy replication is a "Stand-alone" replication rule? Or this is some another method of replication?

    Note:

Replication only applicable and allowed to be executed in case if both Parent and child NS Servers are up-to-date and have same latest version.

Otherwise if you will observe issues in such case when you've performed stand-alone replications between Parent and child NS servers, which have different versions, then probably support will don't consider such issue because this will be unsupported scenario.

    Suggestion:

    • Break hierarchy between Parent and child NS Server
    • Complete upgrade of parent and child NS Servers
    • Create hierarchy back

    Additional:

There is a "Data Connector" which provides ability to perform export/import of required data from appropriate SQL table of "Symantec_CMDB" database, using "OLEDB" data source and create an "Import/Export resource" rule to perform this action.

But I'm not sure that you need this.
