  • 1.  Cannot Connect to SEPM Manager

    Posted May 15, 2012 08:30 AM

    Hello,

SEP is not updating and distributing A/V definitions. I tried to login to the console and got the following error.

All of the services are running, there are no errors in the event logs. The only things in the logs are warnings about where SEP could not scan. I am using the correct username and password. I do not know how to proceed further. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Just got an error stating: "The Java Virtual Machine has exited with a code of -1, the service is being stopped."

Would a Java update have broken this service?

    Hello,

Could you provide us with the scm-server-0.log and catalina.out log?

The first step should always be to check the scm-server-0.log file in the sepm\tomcat\logs folder.

Also check the catalina.out logfile. It may contain info if there is a port conflict on the server.

In the scm-server-0.log, you will find the error in the line, just before the indentation changes!!

Also, f you have upgraded the SEPM, then you will have upgrade.log .

That log is extremely useful in case of troubleshooting Java -1 in SEP SBE 12

Please post the error message from the logs above, and then we can decide the steps ahead.

Hi. The first time I got this, was because I removed the router from the server to the modem. So I ran the wizard again and everything was fine.

The second time, I've install Network and Remote Access, and tried to create the NAT and VPN services. Just lost any contact with the manager, remote desktop and others. So I uninstalled the role above.

Then I had to run the wizard again and nothing. I had to uninstall and reinstall SEP SB 12.1. Lucky me, I only have the server and the client itself. If it was a larger netwrok, I don't know...

Try the wizard first. Then try to remove but choose "Repair".

    Regards.

    Hello Jason,

You get this error, either when the Symantec Embedded Database Service is stopped, or the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Service is stopped.

Hence you can try to start these services and check if that resolves, if you still have the issue then please send us the scm-server-0.log and catalina.out as these logs would have errors which could help us to find the cause.

You should find these logs in the following directory.

    <Installed drive>:\Program Files\Symante\Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager\Tomcat\Logs

    -- Cheers--
