Cannot connect on socket (25)
Dear Supports,
In NB Administration console --> host properties --> Clients i tried to connect the my client server but shows error cannot connect on socket (25).
I have added host entries in my master and media and also in Client server.
Our Backup servers and Client server are in Same segment. I can able to telnet client from master with port 13782 but i cant telnet port 13720 from client to master.
Since my client and backup server are in same segment i think no need of opening ports.
Please my configuration of Master Media and Client.

Please provide a solution asap.
If you need a solution 'asap' raise a technical support call.
If nslookup is timing out (if you are using DNS) then look at your nameservers first, slow/unresponsive nameservers will break NetBackups communications.
Lot of conusing things:
DO you have IPv6 in your environment as it is setup on master server, there is no IPV4 setup on master. Disable ipv6 and enable ipv4 on master
Media shows ipv4
client also shows ipv4
Your client clearly times out when you try to nslookup master server.
Please check all you ip settings, dns and make sure nslookup should work from master/media to client and vice versa.
Actually i have 6 Client Servers in the same Segment(192.168.50.x.)... all 6 servers using DNS.. i could able to take backup for 5 servers but for 1 Servers am getting socket error 25 when i try to connect the server from the Host prop-->Clients.
5 client servers which am taking backup doesnt resolve dns name but i can able to take backup. nslookup also not worked for the 5 client servers.
i dono y i cant able to connect or take backup of 1 server.
My master and media server are also in the same segment as Client 192.168.50.x.
As mentioned, raise Symantec support case. Ask for an Apparanet test to be done to check your network.
Hi revaroo,
Can you please tel me what is Apparanet test?
It checks the network and interface cards between 2 destinations, in your case, the client and media server
hi ,
what is the error when you did the bptestbpcd -Client <clientname> -verbose -debug
what is happening when you use below commands in client
telnet <clientname> 1556
telnet <clientname> 13782
telnet <clientname> 13724
telnet localhost 1556
telnet localhost 13782
telnet localhost 13724
and also, please provide the route print info from the Client.

'telnet' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
C:\Users\backupadmin>telnet xenhsd1.corp.usl.in 13782

Dear Support,
Can anyone help me on this issue...!!!!
