  • 1.  Cannot Delete SEP (registry entries) or re-install new

    Hi

I removed SEP 12.1 (on Windows SBS 2008) the wrong way and now I'm not able to delete registry entry like hklm\software\symantec\symantec endpoint protection. The issue is basically the sub key CurrentVersion creates following error message "Error opening CurrentVersion. They cannot be opened because of an error. Details: the system cannot find the specific file." I changed the permission to be sure to have the rights to delete it, but somehow it seems to be corrupt. Any idea how to fix this?

If I want to re-install SEP I get immediately the error message "error 2343: specified path is empty". I found somewhere a descprtion to manually delete SEP, but I faced above issue.

Is there a repair tool available?

    Cheers

    Thomas

    Hello,

You can Either Run the CleanWipe Utility for 12.1, which you can get from the Symantec Technical Support.

NOTE: It is not Recommended for you to use CleanWipe Utility on Server Operating Systems.

I would suggest you to Go through the Manual Uninstallation Steps.

Here are the Articles on Manual Uninstallation of Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1

    Hi Mithun

I already followed this process and faced the issue with deleting the registry key, as described above. Should I just continue with the other steps and do not care that I cannot remove the registry entries?

I would like to get access to the CleanWipe Utility, but had trouble to log a support case (mysupport) as I do not have any technical contact number or case number (verify account). Is there any other way to log a case to get access to the CleanWipe Utility?

    Kind regards

    Thomas

I have called technical support and they provided me the tool. I will try to resolve the issue and will let you know what the outcome was.

    Thanks a lot.

    Hi

The resolution was to run the CleanWipe Utility. The manual process did not resolve the issue.

    Regards and Thanks
