  • 1.  Cannot Deploy image using WinPE CDROM boot

    Posted Aug 17, 2011 11:35 AM

I have DS 7.1 installed in WS 2003. I did a image deply to a laptop running Win XP, installed Altiris Agent with automation folder and other policies i have enabled in DS console. I started the process of Image Deploy: Boot to Automation, Restore BackUp Image and Reboot to Production. Everything started good but our NAC server change Laptop's ip address while computers was in the process. Process failed, now the laptop won't boot at all. I create a WinPE CD and I can boot and load Automation Folder from the CD, I can discover the computer in the DS Console and ping that laptop from the server, but when i start the Job to restore windows (Restore Backup Image, Reboot to Production), process won't start and I get a message "waiting for agent to get the task".

What can i do to get it to work?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello,

You can give a try with following steps:

    1. Remove the client from computer list of console.

    2. Boot it again with WinPE CDROM

    3. Once it is discovered in console again, Run 'Restore Backup Image' task on it.

    Thanks for your quick response.

Yes I've try that and it didn't work! After i deleted the computer in DS Console I reboot computer into WinPE with CD inside. It took like 10 minutes to DS Console discover the computer again with name started with "minint-...". I can select it from the quick run and start the Job, but task never start in the computer. I was able to get it to work in another computer with Automation Folder installed in the Hard Drive, but from the CD only i can't get it to work!

Ok. Can you check if PectAgent process remains alive on client in WinPE & still don't respond to the task from server?
