Hi, As the subject suggests I am unable to download certain file types to network locations using IE10 with SEP 12.x enabled. As soon as I disable the AV I can download as expected. It doesn't appear to affect every network location but disabling SEP is the only constant I've been able to implement to temporarily allow this. Chrome, Firefox and IE9 are fine so am pretty sure this is IE10 related but think SEP is also a factor in this instance. Any ideas?

Is anything in the Risk or Security log showing up?

Do you have Download Insight enabled? If so, disable it and see what the result is..just to test it and see if we can narrow it down to one specific component. Possibly browser IPS as well but it would also affect firefox.

What components do you have enabled?

    Can you try IE 11?

do you have download insight enabled and created exclusions? Please check this document

Download Insight exclusions are not honored on files downloaded through Internet Explorer 10

Thanks for the quick replies. Yes I do have DI enabled. I've disabled this and will test tomorrow. I'll update with the results

Unfortunately Disabling Download Insight and Browser Intrusion Prevention has made no difference. The logs don't appear to show anything relevant either! I was really sure one of the components mentioned would be the culprit but doesn't look to be the case. Any other ideas?

What's happens if you disable everything but AV?

You said this works fine in firefox?

Perhaps there is a setting in IE causing this problem

I have v10.0.9200.16736 with Update Versions 10.0.11 (KB2888505) installed. This is indeed a later version than the article specifies so had hoped DI was no longer the issue in this instance. I'm running an RM CC4 network here so am currently restricted to IE9 or IE10. RM haven't yet created tested or created a package with ADM templates for version 11 so although I could install IE11 locally this wouldn't fix the bigger issue.

What I didn't realise was that even though it has ".partial" as the extension name, this is still the full file and simply needs to be renamed. Once renamed, this works as normal. It threw me when it pops up with "NameOfFile.exe Couldn't be downloaded" in the browser window. I'm still convinced that this is a combination of IE10/Symantec due to the fact that when disabled the file downloads normally.

But you said firefox works normally? I know IE does rename some file extensions..still not sure why it would work when SEP is disabled on IE though...

My apologies. I thought I'd tested on Firefox as well but hadn't. Google was definitely downoading these fine however.

Maybe a SEP component is not liking the renaming process as only ever fails after the file has fully downloaded however never had a problem on IE9 for me but have seen threads on my searches where people on IE9 were also experiencing this!!

It's possible than that SEP doesn't like the renaming...you may want to check in with support so they can troubleshoot further.
