  • 1.  Cannot download software update package

    Hi All

    I'm trying to download update package from solution. But when i access to configure schedult for download update package. It show error you're not authorizd to run this task.

    My account have role symantec administrator. As I know, this group is super admin. Can you advise the soulution for all

    Hi telecomcv,

    You can stage software bulletins and download software update packages on the Patch Remediation Center page, where all available software updates are listed. You can also do this from any Patch Management Solution report.
     
    If you have problems to download, please verity if your SMP have internet access allowed or configure SMP to use a proxy server.
    Configuring the SMP Settings to use Proxy Server:
    1) In the Symantec Management Console, in the Settings menu, click All Settings.
     
    2) In the left pane, in the Settings folder, click Notification Server > Notification Server Settings. On the Server Settings page.
     
    3) Configure the proxy information on Proxy tab.
     
    The Test Settings option validates the proxy server settings by attempting to connect to an external Web site.
     
    If error messages appear when you test the settings, ensure that your authentication credentials are correct. Ensure that your proxy server is running and that no general network errors exist.

    Hi telecomvn,

    This messages means that you can't directly edit/delete/run etc this task, even if you are Symantec Administrator, because this is system hard-coded task. The similar situation you can observe with any system reports. If you want to download software update package, like just already said, go to Patch Remediation Center page.

    Hi all

    NS server is running on windows server.

    Temporary, i'm trying with Patch management. So I need to now why it happened because i have administrator right on NS

    As it has been already mentioned in previous comments you may invoke downloading of software bulletins on the Patch Remediation Center page, where all available software updates are listed or from Patch Management Solution reports(right-click on bulletin and select Download Packages or Recreate packages). As soon as downloading or distributing of bulletin(a) is invoked from report, download task is created that downloads the associated software updates. You can only view the status of this task on Download Software Update package task page in order to troubleshoot the download of software updates
     
     
    Download Software Update package task cannot be edited (i.e. scheduled) by design, so it is Read-only for any role even if it is Symantec Administrator.
