  • 1.  cannot find iastor.sys / selected boot device inaccesable

Upon initial reboot i'm faced with Windows failed to start cannot find file \windows\system32\drivers\iaStor.sys   ... status 0x0000359.

My reference image is Windows 7 Pro x64 on a Dell Optiplex 390.  I'm using DS6.9 SP5 with WinPE2.1 to create the boot disk and the image.  Systems will boot to deployment server and recieve the image without fail.

I've tried using differnet versions and archetectures of iastor on the system specific boot disks and get the same result every time.  The source system was using iastorV.sys in place of iastor.sys. so I tried replaceing iastorV.sys on the reference system with iastor.sys (x64) get a different error at boot:  the boot selection failed because a required deivce is inaccessible.

This is the only system (Optiplex 390) that acts like this.  755, 960, 980, 990, all laptops don't do this.

I will keep trying differnet iastor versions on the reference image,... in the meantime does anyone have any suggestions?

I can give more detail just ask.

    Hi Jim,

This sounds as if you are missing storage drivers? As per my understanding of the issue, you deploy a sysprep image thru WinPE, but maybe you can clarify this a bit more in detail?

    Thanks, -BBC
