What is happening is I don’t think Altiris DS is recognizing any of the machines(MAC addrs) in its database when in PXE DS, if I uncheck “Enable response to request from computers not in the DS Database” under PXE configuration, none of the clients will receive a response from Altiris and take a long time to time out of DHCP. When I do have this enabled as is now, they will get a response and continue to boot. The problem is they don’t recognize any image job I setup, whether create image or distribute image. I have to manually walk up to the machine, hit F8 options in PXE and pick WinPE, when they boot into WinPE then they recognize the imaging job, but no configuration after imaging takes place from Alitirs server takes place, like renaming, joining domain ect... 

Using Deployment Solution 6.9 (build 453) service pack 4

Already restarted all Altiris services, restarted entire server and checked logs. 

Really need help with this!! plz.

In Pxe configuartion DS tab set WinPE as default boot option if u are selecting WinPE in your create image job .

If you are trying to create image from unknown client then check  “Enable response to request from computers not in the DS Database” under PXE Configuartion utility and set WinPE as boot option for unknown computer.

@symdon, that's exactly how i've had it for while and it's worked perfect for years. I don't know what the problem is now. Yes we use WinPE. 

The computer is known, i'm just trying to re-image it and tyring to grab an image from another machine too. 

it's not picking up the image jobs at all while booting PXE and there are no pending jobs before it either. 

Anybody other ideas? Could this be related to database? Looks like to me that Altiris DS doesn't recognize the computer thus the imaging job. The computer is in the console, so not sure why.

How about using MAC filtering instead?

You need to troubleshoot some things.

First check whether the client which you need to image is connecting to any PXE server OR not?

I dont know how will you check if you have only one DS server available ,If this is the case then ignore this test .

Second create new PXE image and try to boot the machine using this image in create image job  ,If you would be having the same problem then you will have to check the first solution whether client is booting to any PXE OR not .

Yes, I can see it connect on boot it grabs an IP from the DHCP PXE and connects to MTFTP. Also if I press F8 on the client while on PXE boot for "boot other options" and select the WinPE option, it boots up and picks up the image job, strange...

Check the same job with different clients if having the same problem then might be you need to check with different PXE boot image.

I am not sure whether you have tried with second option or not?

I know its very time consuming to create new boot image still i will suggest you to create new one and use it in create image job .

I had to update my WinPE PXe boot disk one day everything worked and two days later after the weekend I could not image to save my life. it only took a few hours to complete but it has been working well ever since. Not sure if a update to the serve caused the issue or what. I am using DS6.9 with SP4 also.

when I boot computers via PXE, it launches WinPE and sits there.  If the DS console knows about them, it stays there all night, not running the Job that caused it to boot into automation in the first place.  If the console doesn't know about them, and I F8 to winpe boot, the computer boots into winpe and them just restarts.
