Hi

Hope some-one will be able to assist me. We upgraded to 11D of server software. I pushed the latest remote agent from Backup server to remote server. Halfway through install the server booted, and couldn't complete. After that I wasn't able to install any agents. I followed the procedures on the site to maunally remove the remote agent, since it looks like the remote agent is failing when it's trying to un-install previous version.

There are now no traces of the Agent under services or in my ad/remove programs, but still not able to install the agent. I ha ve rebooted the remote server after the manual un-install, but still no luck. Although there are no-more registry entries about the Remote agent, I'm still not able to install. When I try to push it again from  the backup server, it's get stuck on 86% of the install, and it's when  it's trying to upgrade the version on the remote server, but there is no agent any-more, so
I'm not sure where the server is getting this info from. It must be reading it somewhere from the backup server.

Is there any-one who perhasp had a simular problem.

It would be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Eduard

Hi Eduard,

To better assist you, I would need to see the exact error you are receiving.  You could copy in the line from the installation log (including a couple before and after the error), or you could try running a "Silent Install" on the remote server.  I am assuming that you already upgraded your media server.  If so, please do the following:

1.  Copy \Symantec\Backup Exec\Agents\RAWS32  (for a 32 bit server)   or   \RAWSIA64 (for a 64bit server) from the media server to the root of C:\ on the remote server
2.  On the remote server select "Start | Run | CMD" and press enter
3.  Change to the root of C:\
4.  Change to the directory you copied over in step 1.   (RAWS32 or RAWSIA64)
5.  Run    SETUPAA.CMD     (this will install the Remote Agent only!)
6.  The courser will go "below" what you normally see, and once it is back up, the Remote Agent has been installed.
7.  Verify that the Remote Agent services are running.

Should you need to install the Remote Agent AND Advanced Open File Option as well, simply replace the command in step 5 with  SETUPAOFO.CMD.

Hopefully, the above will allow you to successfully install the Remote Agent - please let me know.

Regards,

Christiane

Thans Christiane for your reply.

I managed to resolve the problem. I had to remove the old install from the regestry, and clean the regestry so that there wer no more entries about the previous install. Only once this was removed, I managed to re-install the latest version.
