This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi,

I try to install Symantec_Endpoint_Protection_12.1.2_Win64-bit_Client_EN on a new Dell laptop with windows 8 x64 but install is running back.

With previous versions I could fix this with install liveupdate first but the install isn't in the folders @the moment.

How to solve this?

(install log attached)

Hi,

Please run latest version of cleanwipe on the sstem and delete all sep folder from the system and then delete all sep entry from registry and then try to install.

First you can try to use Cleanwipe tool then you can install sep client

Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 client install rolls back, returning 1603

Is this a managed or unmanaged install?

Are you installing locally or remotely?

Please click the "Mark as solution" link at bottom left on the post that best answers your question. This will benefit admins looking for a solution to the same problem.

btw: Unmanaged install with package directly from fileconnect site an installed locally

Hello,

Symantec is aware of this problem and will update this document when a solution becomes available.

Until a solution is provided, you can work around this problem using on of the following:

  • Disable Windows Defender before installing the SEP client
  • Remove KB2781197 before installing the SEP client
