    Team,

I just bought Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.0.1 from shop in Thailand.

The box has yellow sticker said "Windows7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Ready"

But when i've try to install it showed me

" This version of Symantec Protection Center cannot be installed on Windows7 operating system"

      How can i do ?

    Hello,

The Box and Software both are correct as they said.

Well, What you are trying to Install is Symantec Protection Center (The Management Console for Symantec Endpoint Protection SBE 12.0)

What the Box said is "Symantec Endpoint Protection Client which is Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Ready."

So, you can Install the Symantec Endpoint Protection Client on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 and not the Symantec Protection Center.

I believe, that's where the confusion started.

Symantec Protection Center (The Management Console for Symantec Endpoint Protection SBE 12.0.1) could  be installed on:

    • Windows 2000 Server, Advanced Server, Datacenter Server, Small Business Server with Service Pack 3 or later
    • Windows XP (32-bit, 64-bit)
    • Windows Server 2003 (32-bit, 64-bit) (all Service Packs supported)
    • Windows Server 2008 (32-bit, 64-bit) (R2 and all Service Packs supported)
    • Windows Small Business Server 2008 (64-bit) (all Service Packs supported)
    • Windows Essential Business Server 2008 (64-bit) (all Service Packs supported)

Here is the Minimum System Requirements Document: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH98142

    Hope that helps!!

    Hello,

Yes, you would have to Uninstall Norton 360 with Liveupdate Application from Add/Remove Programs under Control Panel.

About, Difference between Symantec Endpoint Protection client and Symantec Protection Center

Symantec Protection Center is the Manager Console from where you control all Symantec Endpoint Protection clients installed on all computers. You can create policies, deploy clients to fresh client machines from Symantec Protection Center. Basically, you can control other Managed Symantec Endpoint Protection clients from this Console.

Symantec Endpoint Protection client is the main software which provides the Protection to your machines. These clients could be installed as Managed (Managed by Symantec Protection Center) OR Unmanaged (Not managed by Symantec Protection Center Self Managed). The Symantec Endpoint Protection clients are installed with Features like Antivirus/ Antispyware, ProActive Threat Protection and Network Threat Protection with Application and Device Control.

    Hope that helps!!
