Screenshot looks like Win 2012...and this OS is not yet supported with SEP & would probably be with a newer release of SEP 12.1

Hello,

Are you trying to Install Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager Console  version 11.0.6005 on your Windows 7 SP1?

Just to let you know that Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 Release Update 7 (RU7) and Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 or higher is supported on Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.

Reference: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH94910

Secondly, the screenshot attached are from Windows Server 2012.

Windows Server 2012 is the server version of Windows 8.

Here's Symantec's official article:

Downloads are via the fileconnect.symantec.com portal & this requires a serial number for access...pls contact customer care & they would be able to provide you with an appropriate serial number (this applies only for customers with active support maintenance, else they can check with customer care for a trial)..

@Mithun Sanghavi

i have a question: i want to prevent my users from accessing few specific websites by using IPS policy, but i am confused that user can deny policy by exiting SEP client,is it right? And can IPS of SEP work like content web filter, for ex: only forbid accessing pictures on a news website?

Mithun Sanghavi's picture

Hello,

I believe these SEP clients would be managed clients, correct?

If yes, then you as an Administrator would have entire control on the policies applied to the SEP clients.

The users on the machines could not deny policies which would be applied from the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager.

Secondly, you as an Administrator also make sure you block a user's ability to disable Symantec Endpoint Protection on Clients

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH102822

As far as IPS and blocking website is concerned - check these threads:

i have downloaded SEP 11.0.7 MP2 and installed on win server 2012 beta,i cannot still install SEP manager (receive the message like picture 1 above)but i can install SEP client,so why?i think the problem is not win server 2012,please help me

Mithun Sanghavi's picture

Hello,

SEP 11. RU7 MP2 is not supported on Windows Server 2012.

System requirements for Symantec Endpoint Protection and Symantec Network Access Control 11.0.7

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH165172

Please understand, Windows Server 2012 is the server version of Windows 8.

Windows 8 and Windows 2012 has not been officially released by Microsoft.  Comprehensive quality assurance tests of SEP 12.1 have not been run on this forthcoming platform, and so SEP 12.1 is currently neither certified nor supported on Windows 8 and any of its beta releases.

Hi,

As I can see you are doing fresh install or doing some testing?

SEP 12.1 is one of the latest SEP built offered by Symantec.

Please go through this article.

Feature differences between SEP 11.x & SEP 12.1

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/articles/f...

SEP 11.x uses IIS (Microsoft feature) for reporting & from SEP 12.1 Symantec has removed IIS, we are using Tomcat Apache. It's much more stable than IIS.

If I am not wrong SEP 12.1 is available at free of cost for SEP 11 customers. Because for an existing customer it's an free upgrade.

Will it be possible for you to wait till end of this month? Symantec will release latest built i.e.SEP 12.1 RU2 & it would have official support to Windows 2012.

Windows 8 has not been officially released by Microsoft.  Comprehensive quality assurance tests of SEP 12.1 have not been run on this forthcoming platform, and so SEP 12.1 is currently neither certified nor supported on Windows 8/Server 2012 and any of its beta releases.

Windows Server 2012 (and Windows 8) will be supported with SEP 12.1.2. Probably not on the beta version of those OSes, though.

Wait for Jaguar aka 12.1 RU2 as mentioned everybody, it will be officially the first SEP Release that will support Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012.

As all first release product to support a new recent OS, there might still be some small bugs but at least a lot of improvments have been done so far to support this new OS.

I confirm what Sandra mentioned about Beta OS Version ;-)

Kind Regards,

And when will it finally be released? Windows 8 and Server 2012 have been out for almost 2 months to those of us with Enterprise Agreements/Software Assurance...
