    Hi All,

    I am unable to install...

Installer seem to disappear after the first dialog.

Tried rebooting, removing registry keys, removing temp files, removing Symantec folders, ran as Domain Admin, but still unable to install.

Below is the log for the installation:

    Thanks in advance.

    hello,

Can you provide OS version ?

SEP client installation rolls back at creating install cache.

first try to instal Liveupdate , then run the setup or else change the registry key as per this document

can you please pass on the sis_inst.log?  this can be found at %AppData%\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint protection\12.1.x.x.x\Data\Install\Log

    Found this in the log:

    script execution failed.
ScriptGen: ShowServiceProgress() reset script failure event.
ScriptGen: ShowServiceProgress() is returning an error (so close to the end!)
CustomAction ShowServiceProgress returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)

Is this an upgrade or a fresh install? I would suggest getting cleanwipe from support and running that and trying the install again.

    OS: Win 7 Professional SP1 64bit

    It is a fresh install.

    Hi,

First you can use clean wipe tool than reinstall sep client locally.

I had run the clean wipe tool on the laptop and tried to run the sep client locally. But still the same error appeared all over again.

I had also tried to shorten the path to the install package (setup.exe) to C:\SEP\setup.exe

But there's another message popped out [Symantec Endpoint Protection has detected that there are pending system changes that require a reboot. Please reboot the system and rerun the installation.] instead of the 'Error 1304' which was previously encountered.

    Please advice..

    Check this Article:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH95608

    Steps -

    1) Open registry and go to

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\

hight light Session Manager on the right hand side delete the value PendingFileRenameOperations

    2) Also delete the same value from

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet001\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations

then run the install...without rebooting the PC

    Hello,

Upon checking the Logs, we found below error:

    MSI (s) (5C:F4) [19:38:16:704]: Executing op: DialogInfo(Type=0,Argument=1033)

Could you please try installing SEP 12.1.2015 on your Windows 7 SP1 machine??

    Secondly, check these Articles:

Steps to prepare computers to install Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1 client

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH163112

Check this Thread (Almost the same Issue):

    https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/sep-121-client-installation-failure

    Also,

Disable UAC and Windows Firewall and Try Creating a custom setting under the “Client Install Settings” options to not use “Add the program to the Start Menu”, leave this unchecked.

    OR / AND

Deploy a client install package with "Remove all previous logs and policies, and reset the client-server communications settings".

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH165801

If the install is successful, manually create the shortcut on the desktop that points SymCorpUI.exe.

    Hope that helps!!

There are no error messages appeared but this time after the installation it's just disappeared and I checked under the All Programs it's not there. I think the installation was not successful.

    Hi,

If the steps provided by others couldn't help then try to install as a unmanaged client.

Or  Try to install the latest SEP version.

    Hi,

try to launch the symhelp.exe tool, that can tell you if your computer meet the requirement/or if there a probleme to arrange before installing SEP

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH170752

I already had a problem like this, try to clear your windows user profile (using another admin logon name) then retry login in with your username.

    Posted Jun 03, 2013 01:36 AM

Ran the symhelp.exe, 7 errors about missing files.

Tried copying the files from the previous laptops with SEP installed, but still having errors.

I guess I will be restoring the laptop to system default.

Very tiring to go on with endless troubleshooting that leads me deeper and deeper...

Anyway, thank you for all the useful advicesand kind help!

    Hi,

If couldn't install even after restoring the laptop to the default state then please pass on Symhelp logs.

I would like to review the logs and will try to find out possible root cause.
