...check your media set and make sure that the Append/OPP settings are correct. If not, then the tape won't be available.

Looking at 1 of those screenshots though it shows that the tape is full, hence Append isn't possible.

Thanks!

Check that your job specify overwrite and not append

If your Media Set settings are correct then you need to check the 'Backup Option' window and ensure that 'Overwrite Media' is selected. Please refer to the screenshot below:

Why are you repeating what I have said earlier?

You need to change some of your jobs to "Overwrite Media" so that they can overwrite the tapes.  You cannot append to tapes forever because you would run out of appendable tape.

hello momaymm@hotmail.com:

make sure all of the Live updates are installed and that you are set to overwrite recyclable media before scratch   http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO73320

When you specify overwrite, BE will write from the front of the tape and wipe out any existing data on the tape.

When you append to tape, BE will continue from where it left off the last time.  For example, if you have written 1GB of data to your tape, then when you append to this tape, BE will write from the 1GB mark onwards.  The previous 1GB of data will be retained.

When you specify "append, otherwise overwrite", you are telling BE to try to append to any appendable tape in the targeted media set.  If no appendable tape can be found, then BE look for overwritable tape to overwrite.

I would strongly suggest that you read the media management chapter of the Admin Guide which can be found in the BE installation directory.

If job running as below

Job 1  running(Increment) time    1 AM    Set  Append to media , overwrite if no appenable media is avaliable

Job 2  runing(Increment) time     2 AM   Set  Append to media , overwrite

Job 3  running(Increment) time   3 AM    Set  Append to media , overwrite if no appenable media is avaliable

Job 4  runing(Increment) time     4 AM   Set  Append to media , overwrite

Job 5  running(Increment) time   5 AM    Set  Append to media , overwrite if no appenable media is avaliable

Job 6  runing(Increment) time     6 AM   Set  Append to media , overwrite if no appenable media is avaliable

Job 7  running(Increment) time   7 AM    Set  Append to media , overwrite

Job 8  runing(Increment) time     8 AM   Set  Append to media , overwrite if no appenable media is avaliable

What happened ?
