BU Exec 11D Cannot restore mailbox Store into RSG (0xe000848c)

Greentwig's picture

Hi All,

Running Backup Exec 11D (SP4 HotFix 37,62,63,65) on Win2k3 SP2 (x32) backing up Exchange 2007 Version 8.1 (Build 240.6) on Windows 2008 SP2 (x64)

After my initial dramas with backing up I'm all good now, but I've hit another snag.

I'd like to restore the whole database to the RSG but get the below error:

Job ended: Monday, June 22, 2009 at 1:11:30 PM
Completed status: Failed
Final error: 0xe000848c - Unable to attach to a resource. Make sure that all selected resources exist and are online, and then try again.
Final error category: Resource Errors

For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-33932

Restoring emails into an existing mailbox works perfectly and is a lovely little feature considering I've always come from the RSG exmerge school of hard knocks in Exchang 2003 ;)

I just want the whole EDB put into the RSG as part of my backup recovery procedure, but it just dones't work. I've read lots of posts about it, but no solution.

I've turned on debugging and see only one message that really sticks out

Thanks heaps!

Going to try something...

Hi again all Backup Exec Guns,

I'm going to un-tick "enable legacy support" tonight and see this this allows me to recover the whole mailbox store.

Will keep you posted.

Roland :)

rndxpert's picture

Same Situation and Error

Same server config and software versions.

Things tried:
- Update BE 11D software
- Disable IPv6 on exchange server
- Check NTFS permission of Backup-to-disk location and RSG location
- Restore from tape instead of from disk
- Check restore account ( working mailbox, member of Domain Admins/Exchange Org Admin\Local Admins, permission to 'Log on as a batch job', etc)

>>> Same error (0xe000848c)

Other suggestions?

HI

The drive where you have created the Recovery storage shoup must be shared and the account used must have full contorl on the drive , I mean like C$ or D$

If this response answers your concern, please mark it as a "solution"

Thanks for the

Thanks for the response.

I created the RSG on an separated physical disk formatted as 'G:\', which is by default shared as 'G$'. Because my BE restore account is a member of de Local Admins the account has full control on G:\ . So i don't think your suggestion will resolve my error.

I think it's a symantec fault

Hi Staily,

I'm currently waiting on hearing back if I can upgrade to 12.5 BUexec as no-one here really knows how to fix.

If I can't upgrade then I'll log a call on this on and report back.

Individual mailbox restore working ok for you?

Thankfully this is running a treat for me!

Rolly

None

No problem with individual mailbox or full database restore. The upgrade to 12.5 is not free but an other investment.
Keep us informed!
