What version are you at?

What version are you at?

De facto when AV does something, it starts jumping up and down, waving its arms, and shouting "Hey!  I found a virus!  Look at me!  I'm soooo goooood!"

Permission denied error

While saving a word document on netowork it gives an error and does not save giving some permission error.

This issue was partially fixed in MR3 but till Mr4Mp2 it was resolved however.
You might face this issue on some clients even on Mr4Mp2 if you are using some Application Control Policies.
eg. you are making some file read only or blocking some files.
the resolution for this would be ..in the same rule add Winword.exe as an exception and it should work.

Try this 1. Disable

Try this

1. Disable application and device control policy, which has been applied onto clients.
2. Check the applied "application and device control" policy, make sure all rules of "application control" have been disabled. Meanwhile, you can enable device control.
3. Change the permission of shared folders, to "full control" for remote users.

We need more information in

We need more information in order to help. Also you should answer peoples questions, or comment on if you have tried the things people have posted. If you don't there is no way for us to know what worked and what didn't. Also I want to know what is the exact error or errors (I say errors because the last time I troubleshooted this there were multiple ones). A screenshot would be nice so we can get the exact phrasing. Also where are you trying to save this file, maybe a network or shared drive? Or just locally? Last question is do you have any application or device control rules in place? These questions are very helpful in helping diagnose your problem.

Cheers
Grant

Did you try the workaround

Did you try the workaround found in the KB I posted earlier? http://service1.symantec.com/support/ent-security....

Please list the OS, SP, bit of system that experiences the issue. What version of Office are you using?
Please post any screenshots of the errors as Grant requested earlier.

Thanks,
Thomas

We faced that issue for

We faced that issue for months. The latest SEP release has helped relieve it, but we also had to hack the server registry a bit. We could save locally, but not on the Windows Server2003 share - we'd get permission denied errors, and/or the file would just disappear.
Now with the latest SEP, it simply takes forever to open and close Word documents........... but at least they can be saved (by forever, I mean 2 minutes to open, 3 to 5 to save and close)
Disable SEP TOTALLY and it's FAR better.
We've learned to live with it.

Im using Windows XP SP3, SEP 11 MP4MP2. Is there anything i should exclude other than the winword.exe?

Similar problem, need help!

Server details:
SMB 2003 *all service pack up to date
SEP 11.0.4202 MR4 MP2
Information Foundation Mail Security For MSE 6.0.8.262

Client details:
Vista 32/64 bit *up to date
Office 2007 *up to date
SEP 11.0.4202 MR4 MP2 *full package installed

Issuse:
Client users having problem saving Word and Excel doc/sheets. The problem is related to all the latest SEP clients that I have tried. If I uninstall the SEP client everything works fine, no help in just disable the SEP client. The problem is more agressive when working on files that many other users uses. Files are stored and shared on the SMB 2003 server. I can se that when I go to the server management on SMB 2003 and shares / open files, the files often get LOCK / LOCKED. So it seems like the SEP client does not release the file after openning / wokring on file

Clients get message like these:
file in use
file cannot be saved

Any help is appreciated.

Regards Seiern
