This issue has been solved. See solution.

I am trying to install Endpoint Prot. on an Exchange Server that has the subject program installed. I assume I need to uninstall that program  before installing EPP, but when I try to uninstall, it wants a user ID and password for the old server that no longer exists. I cannot get past that in order to uninstall the old SAV.

I also already have Backup Exec running on that machine. I don't want to have to do everything at once, but I need to upgrade to a new version of that as well. I would rather not wipe everything clean all at once, but that could be an option. I will just need to do the whole ball of wax with all the servers all at once.

 Contact Support for the

Contact Support for the uninstall tool for SAV.  It's not available for download alone, an actual support ticket needs to be opened..

However, you may try to open a ticket using the mysupport.symantec.com portal.

There is an online portal, save yourself the long hold times. Create ticket online, then call in with ticket # in hand :-) http://mysupport.symantec.com "We backup data to restore, we don't backup data just to back it up."

Hi

Follow to uninstall without password

1) Open Regedit

2) Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\INTEL\LANDesk\ VirusProtect6\CurrentVersion\Administrator Only\Security\

3) Change the value for this key from 1 to 0

useVPuninstallpassword

4) Close the registry and retry the uninstall

or the second option is to kill the msiexec.exe
when it prompts for password
open the taskmanager
kill the msiexec.exe running under user name (currently logged in user)
the uninstall will complete.

Please don't forget to mark your thread solved with whatever answer helped you : ) Rafeeq
