  • 1.  Cannot uninstall SEP 12 beta client

    Posted Jul 13, 2011 10:54 AM

    Hello,

When uninstalling SEP 12 Beta client (Control Panel - Add or Remove Programs), the uninstall process ends with "Error 1921. Service Symantec Real Time Storage Protection (SRTSP) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services."

The client is WinXP ServicePack 3, SEP is 12.1.601.4699. I am logged in as a member of local Administrators group.

    Could anybody help? Thanks.

    Hello,

    1) Check in the services.msc if the Symantec Endpoint Protection and Symantec Management Client are running properly and in started mode.

    2) Could you try restart the client machine and try to uninstall the same again.

    3) Try in the Control Panel >> System >>  Hardware >> Device Manager >> Click View >> Click Show Hidden Devices >> Under Non - Plug and Play Drivers >> Check for SRTSP >> Uninstall the same.

    Hope that works for you!!!

    Hello,

You can try  CleanWipe uninstall tool to uninstall Symantec Endpoint Protection, and then restart the computer. To obtain the CleanWipe tool, contact Symantec Technical Support

Clean wipe 6.3 cannot remove SEP 12 Beta!

Please use the Windows installer Cleanup utility.

This breaks entries with registry and running services. You can delete the files and folders from the file system later.....

    Good Luck!

    Hi,

Unfortunately it didn't do the trick. It fails to remove the SRSTP service.

    Thanks.

          's§ § ů'      Mithun Sanghavi's suggestion (step 3) worked well for me.

I will also ask for the tool to remove SEP client later.

Many thanks to everyone who responded.
