Cannot upgrade Symantec Management 7.1 to 7.5

i use on win 2008 X64   i need to upgrade 7.1 to 7.5  but have error while upgrading.....  I run as administratot on symantec installation Manager already

Hi,

according to list of installed products, you have upgraded SMP to 7.5 HF5 version (Scroll down list of all installed products and you will see Symantec Management Platform 7.5 HF5)

You have problem with update for "Inventory Solution" to 7.5 HF5 version. Please check logs and find an error wich causes "Inventory Solution" update failure:

  • Open Altiris Log Viewer. "Start" ⇒ "All Programs" ⇒ "Symantec" ⇒ "Diagnostics" ⇒ "Altiris Log Viewer"
  • All logs are here ⇒ C:\ProgramData\Symantec\SMP\Logs\

1. Seems like SMP isn't properly configured. You can check this state of SMP in SIM

2. Using logs in attachment is not enought to see a root cause of failed configuration. Please collect all logs from C:\ProgramData\Symantec\SMP\Logs and attach them in .zip.

If you remember the date and time when upgrade was running and failed, could you collect logs, related to this date/time range?
Also is it SMP shown as properly configured in SIM?

Can i install maual for Altirris Inventory Solution 7.5 HF5 ?

Hi,

yes. you can manually try to reconfigure Altiris Inventory Solution. Just execute this command line on ITMS Server and open Altiris Log Viewer to see logs, while Inventory Solution reconfigures.

C:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\Bin>AeXConfig.exe /configure "C:\Program Files\Altiris\Inventory\Config\Inventory.config"

 

But first, please confirm that "Symantec Management Platform 7.5 HF5" is properly configured and doesn't show that it isn't properly configured.

Open SIM and check installed products -> scroll down and click on SMP 7.5 HF5 -> verify its state.

i install program on  D:\Program Files\Altiris\Notification Server\Bin .

And what about SMP 7.5 in SIM? What state it has?

Please collect, zip and attach Logs from ITMS Server where Inventory Solution 7.5 HF5 fails to configure (I think that time range ~3 hours will be enough to see Logs about this problem).

  • C:\ProgramData\Symantec\SMP\Logs

Thank you for logs. Now I see that configuration of Inventory Solution 7.5 HF5 fails due

  • Could not find stored procedure 'sp_Inv_GetSoftwareExecutionDetails'

Please let me know, is all other products are shown as properly configured in SIM? (Same that I've asked you above)

also if your doing a new database i would suggest wipe all and rebuild - make sure you dont have problems down the line. been down that road before - where i should have wiped box and rebuilt from scratch instead of doing a reg key repair
