  • 1.  Can't Add Client Insall Package [package already exists]

I'm trying to create a client install package but I'm receiving errors. I've already created client install settings and client install features. When I select, [add client install package] I am prompted to name the package and to specify the source folder for the package building files. I don't know where these building files are. How are they built? What I did was simply take the default 32Bit install package that was already there, exported it, then used those files when it asked to specify package building files.

The error I get is "package already exists". How does the Add Client Install Package feature work?

Ok from further reading I believe I understand how it works. The client install packages get updated by symantec in the form of a product_name.dat and product_name.info. Add client Install pacakge is not a configurable option without the product updates. The reason I was getting product already exists errors was b/c I was trying to package up the default 32BIT package that was already there.

I had a VM with SEPM on it that I was working with a few months ago and I was able to add a client install package but I forgot how I actually did it.

    Hi Willie,

I think you are hetting a wrong tab you are trying to creat a package if yes then you need to click on Export client install package not Add client Package
I hope this should help if this fixes your problem mark this as solution or If you really want to import a package then I will tell you how to do it
