This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi,

I try to add a NIC driver to my preboot config in WinPE2
It's actually impossible.

In the driver management window, when I select my driver folder, I can't see any files...

With BDC, it see my drivers but refuse to install it : BDC could not add the driver XXXX

My inf file contains the correct sections AMD64NT6.0

Its a HP NIC server driver HPNC553. driver : be2nd6x

What is the problem ?

Thanks a lot

GREG

DS 71 is different from DS

DS 71 is different from DS 6.9 where you add drivers from BDC.

In DS 7.1, you should  add drivers from Console. From Console, navigate to Settings | Deployment and Migration | Driver Database Management

Here, from Right hand side page, click on Preboot tab and then click on add button.

* Make sure you have JRE installed.

I've already test in the Console

Thanks for you answer.

I've already test in the Console.

When I try to add my Preboot driver, I select my driver folder. It doesn't show me any files (normal ???). If I validate, my driver doesn't appear. (and I believe it's not install)...

Try only selecting the folder

Try only selecting the folder not file. Keep the drivers file in a folder and select that.

Found the solution

Hi,

I'm guilty.

My solution is to run bootwiz as Administrator. Driver was successfully added, and visible in the Driver Management Database.

But I've another problem now... Another thread... :(

Hello Greg, The Deployment

Hello Greg,

The Deployment Solution 7.1 does not support adding the compressed drivers.

If the drivers are in cab/zip format please extract them first.

You have two option for adding driver to preboot.

First Option : Adding preboot drivers using the BootWiz.exe.

The BootWiz.exe is stored in the <Program Files>\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Agents\Deployment\Task Handler\bootwiz directory.

Steps to add preboot drivers using bootwiz:

1.Run BootWiz.exe.
2. In Boot Disk Creator, choose the option to create a new configuration.
3. Enter a name for the configuration.
4. Select the type of preboot operation system that you want to add a driver to. and click Next.
5. Click Have Disk and browse the driver folder and select the new driver
to add.
The driver is added.
7 Click Cancel.

Second option: Adding preboot driver using deployment solution 7.1 console.

Make sure Java runtime 6 or above is installed.

Steps to add drivers using deployment solution console

1. Start notification server console.

2. Go to  Setting -> Deployment -> Driver Management

3. Select the PreBoot tab.

4. Press Add button and browse to the driver folder and press ok button.

The new driver is used when you create a new configuration.
If a preboot configuration that you already created needs your new driver, you
must regenerate that driver. You can regenerate the driver by selecting the
configuration from the Preboot Configuration view and clicking the Recreate
Preboot Environment link in its menu.

Steps to regenerate the configuration:

1. Start notification server console.

2. Using menu go to Settings -> Deployment -> Create Preboot Configuration

3. On Preboot configuration page select the preboot and Select the "Recreate Preboot Environment".

4. Save the chages

5. Right click on Alitris Agent in System tray  and from context menu select "Symantec Management Setting". Press update button.

Preboot drivers are now added.

Regards,

Nandkumar
