  • 1.  Can't authorize PGP Desktop on new computer

    Posted Mar 06, 2011 11:22 PM

I am using PGP Desktop 9.10.  I am moving to a newer computer and can't get the software to accept the license.  I searched the forums and tried everything I could find, but still nothing.  Here are the facts:

    • Originally purchased the software Jan 2, 2010 - have the original order confirmation with entitlement number, Bronze maintenance
    • On Dec 25, 2010, continued Bronze maintenance until Jan 1, 2012 - have order confirmation with entitlement number
    • Went to licensing.symantec.com and used the license key shown there
    • Used "Authorized User" and "Authorized Company" in the Licensing Assistant
    • Cut and pasted the license key from the page listed above into the License Number field of the Licensing Assistant
    • Every time I try to authorize the license, I get a dialog box that states "PGP Desktop was unable to connect for authorization..."  At the bottom of the box it says "An error has occurred:  name lookup failed"
    • I've also tried the License Assistant using the same user name and company as when I originally installed the software on the other computer.
    • I've followed the steps in HOWTO42066, including the Manual Authorizations, without success.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

Call Licensing at 1800-721-3934, I believe that they will provide you a new set of license key and walk you thru on how to install it.

I am trying to validate a license on a server that doesnt have access to the internet.

Is there a way to do this offline?

    or

Does anyone know the ip and ports of the licensing server so i can open the firewall temporarily to the internet?

    Thanks in advance

I have a Perpetual License for PGP Desktop 9.10, however, can't get the software to accept the license too! How do I go about getting the new version, to can accept my Perpetual License? Is necessary purchasing again?

    Dear,

I have a perpetual license for PGP Desktop 9.10, but what about the users of PGP after the merger with Symantec, how do I keep using the software and license I purchased?

There is a new version of PGP, Symantec, that can accept my permanent license? I'll be forced to buy a new license?

I responded to one of your other posts on this, and would again encourage you to start your own thread/topic on this (just once though, please).
