Oracle backups can only be

Oracle backups can only be browsed and restored on the Oracle client.

Please see Oracle Admin Guide UNIX,Linux  http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH127053 for browse/restore instructions.

Best to let the Oracle DBA use rman from cmd on the client to restore.

What is the information/files trying to search in BAR

What is the information or file you are trying to research in BAR ? File System backup files or Oralce DB Backup images ?

As Said by Marian, DB backups; no need to worry as a backup admin,. we used to just get DBA to take of restore's.

If you are trying to serach files/folders in BAR from file system backup images - what is the source client selected ? is that able to communicate Matser ? and did you select the right policy type and restore type ?

Let us know your comments to assist further.

Thanks, Karthikeyan Sundaram.

What i am trying to do is to

What i am trying to do is to test the master server if restoring oracle database from master server restore GUI interface is working. In my case i can get File system backup's on the master server interface but in case of oracle database i selected:

Source client: <Master server>

Destnation Client: <Oracle Client>

Policy Type: <Oracle>

This will return "Unable to connect Error 0 (Status code 25)"

When we come to the oracle client backup and restore GUI it works fine.

Thank You

Which is your Oracle Client ?

I see in the above comment: Source Client as Master Server ? and after that you stated it works when you check in Oracle client ?

Recheck the source server name; destination can be anything until you for restore.

Thanks, Karthikeyan Sundaram.

To make Clear

Are you able to view the File System backup informations of the same oracle client from Master BAR ? 25 error will be shown only in case of communcation issue. I guess you are giving the correct master and source client name.

Even if this get works, you will be seeing only Oralce Word with Icon on the Directory Sturcuture side nothing other than that.. backed up DB's will be viewable only from client end.  Messgage will be displayed on the MAster BAR " Unable to get data for client ORACLE from server MASTER"

Thanks, Karthikeyan Sundaram.

"i had seen it working on the master server side"

Really? I have never seen it working on the master server. Many years back you could use the GUI to browse for restore scripts on the client.

The reason why it only works on the client is because that is the place where the Oracle/rman - NBU plugin exists. The manual (link above) describes the browse and restore procedure.

If you did rman backups to disk and then backed it up with a normal filesystem backup (Standard policy), you will be able to browse and restore from the master.
