help old and newbe with PCanywhere. I've used pcanywhere about ten to fifteen years ago, and had great luck. This time I can't get it to connect over the internet. It works fine over the local area network.

I'm using windows 7 64 bit with PCanywhere 12.5 with a westell C90-327w30-06 router. My customer (a doctor) wants to access his office system over the internet when he's on the road. It works well in his office using his wifi over his internal network. But when we try to access his host in the office it replies can't connect. I've been trying everything on the website but it still doesn't work please help!!!

Check the default gateway on the PC.

Did you forward the ports on the router?

Which exact versions/builds are you using?

Check out portforward.com  It has the instructions to set up port forwarding on lots of different routers and lots of different programs including pcAnywhere.   I have had good luck with their tool that they sell that will configure your router for you.    Being the family geek every one always has me help set up their routers and rather than figure each one out I tried and succeded so far with using the tool they have.  You don't need the tool but if you set up a lot of routers may be worth the investment.

cheers,
