  • 1.  Can't disable Outlook Auto-Protect or Notes Auto-Protect SEP11 although policy is applied

    Posted Mar 27, 2009 05:40 AM

    What I have done:
I have edited the "Antivirus and Antispyware policy" and unchecked the boxes "Enable Microsoft Outlook Auto-Protect" and "Enable Lotus Notes Auto-Protect". I then push the policy to the client and both SEPM and the system.log on the client says that the policy is applied. But if I look in the "Antivirus and Antispyware Protection settings" the boxes "Enable Microsoft Outlook Auto-Protect" and "Enable Lotus Notes Auto-Protect" are still checked.

    What happens:
It seems that the settings in the policy isn't applied.

    Other tests:
If I do changes to "Centralized Exceptions Policy" the changes are applied on the SEP client.

    Software versions:
SEP on the workstation is 11.0.780.1109 and the OS is Windows XP SP3.
SEPM on the server is 11.0.2010.25 and the OS is Windows Server 2003 SP2.

    Hi,
you are sitting on very old version of SEPM, the new version has improved features for plugins. You may need to upgrade the SEPM  to MR 4 MP 1a.

    Hi,

Is there anyway I can verify that an upgrade will solve the problem? I want to know this because I am not authorized to do upgrades on the server, but if I can present that this is a known error that can be resolved through an upgrade, I can forward it to the authorized persons.

If the solution is to upgrade, how is this best done to avoid other problems?

upgrade the client first at least to the same version as the SEPM and check is taht working, if not upgrade the client to 11mr4mp1a. you can download patches for clients from:
    ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/products/symantec_endpoint_protection/11.0/updates/
