Had a server with solaris8/vxvm3.1 on it that had to be upgraded to solaris10vxvm5.0.

I can't import one disk group..

# vxdg -Cf import oracledg
VxVM vxdg ERROR V-5-1-10978 Disk group oracledg: import failed:
Disk group version doesn't support feature; see the vxdg upgrade command

The error message seems to be implying the diskgroup needs to be upgraded to a later version..

# vxdg upgrade oracledg
VxVM vxdg ERROR V-5-1-2356 Disk group oracledg: upgrade failed: No valid disk found containing disk group

Can't do that either since the diskgroup isn't imported.. Any ideas how to fix this?

Hello. You couldn't import your dg, becouse it's version is too old and it is't support dg move split or join.

How have you done this upgrade?

It seems to me, that you couldn't even upgrade from 3.1 directly to 4.1. So to 5.0 too.

Is it a SAN environment?

How much disks in this dg you have?

can you please port vxdisk list <disk_from_dg> for some of them?
