  • 1.  Can't install automation partition

    Hi,

I'm trying to install an automation partition on a dual-boot mac installation, since they can't PXE boot like other PCs can. But I get some sort of error when it gets to some step about formatting partition and it quits.

Is this because the macs use guid partition tables, and boot camp is providing a kind of simulated mbr-format partition table to windows xp?

Has anyone managed to get this to work?

    Thanks,

    Jessica

We too were experimenting with automation under boot camp, but with out much success.  What we determined is that the NIC is a Broadcom 57xx series and we tried to send a dos based version of that, but without success.  Allegedly, the mbr works differently under the bootcamp side due to the emulation involved from what we can tell.

As I understand it, hidden/embedded bootworks needs to manipulate the master boot record so that Deployment Server can select on demand the option to automatically boot into automation. I have not heard anything to suggest that this integrates with the bootcamp bootloader, or any other bootloader. Kind Regards, Ian./
