Can't install SEP 11.0 on stand alone LT with Vista Home Premium

This issue has been solved. See solution.

I am trying to install an unmanaged client on a laptop running Vista Home Premium.  No Norton ever installed on this machine.  Had trial version of McAfee which I uninstalled.  Have turned off File Sharing, UAC, Windows Firewall and Windows Defender and am installing from CD rather than from network location.

Every time I try to run the install I get a screen saying I need to reboot and run the install again.  I have rebooted no less than 10 times and continue to get that screen.  I am getting absolutely nowhere!

I know this seems like a simple issue compared to some of the other things we deal with but I am at a loss.  Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

 Sue

Hello Susan,

I believe this document can shed some light:

Title: 'Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) Installation fails with the following error "Symantec Endpoint Protection has detected that there are pending system changes that require a reboot. Please reboot the system and rerun the installation."'
Document ID: 2008060512072148

Hope that helps!

Thank you for the quick response.

I tried using the secondary solution first but that failed.  Then I followed the primary solution and deleted the key.  Without rebooting, I started the install again and it seems to be working.

I am hopeful that it will continue all the way through and this will be one more thing off my plate.

Thank you again!!!

I am having the same problem and I clicked on the link in your message and it says the page cannot be found.  Is there a place I can get this information so I can get the fix and install the software?
