  • 1.  Cant restart Symantec Antivirus even in safe mode - disabled on startup

    Posted Mar 31, 2011 04:01 PM

    Hello

I cant get symantec antivirus to restart itself in normal mode or even in safe mode.  I assume a trojan or something else disabled it, but i dont know how to get it back and restarted.   The symantec shield is also gone in the tool tray.  Starting it via all programs wont work.  Its giving me an error.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    thanks

I would try running the Norton Power Eraser Tool.

You can also run a Load Point Analysis from within the SEP support tool.

Try by repairing SEP  ffrom add/remove programs.

Map the C drive of this  computer, and scan it using  SEP client on another computer (after downloading  latest defs). See if anything gets  detected in this scan, and the  problem is solved  or not. If it still does not, then, download and run sep support tool-loadpoint analysis, and save and upload the report here.

Also, make sure Auto-play is disabled on all the drives.
