Can't set SEPM admin password with remote console

This issue has been solved. See solution.

Changing admin PW via remote SEPM console don't work. Changing it is silently ignored and no error is shown. But the password effective timer is being reset. Editing of "System Administrator Properties" are ignored, too.<br />I can only make changis with the console on localhost or resetpass.bat.

Can someone help what's wrong or where to look at?

Just before I upgraded to SP3 of the MSSQL DB. While this I discovered the loss of the sem5 DB user password and had to set a new one with the "Management Server Configuration Wizard" (long story in short).

We are still at MR3 but will upgrading soon (waiting for MR4 MP2).

This is fixed in MR4

Hi BlackFrog, I think you will find this particular issue is fixed in MR4 (possibly MP1a, I'd have to check the fix list).

The changes will stick if you use the local SEPM console though.

RE: This is fixed in MR4

Hi Paul!

Thank you for your answer! I see, it should be fixed in MR4:

System Administrator accounts can be added and deleted but not modified through a remote Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager console.
Fix ID: 1426040
Symptom: System administrator properties and password cannot be changed remotely.
Solution: From the Symantec Protection Endpoint Manager console, you can now modify accounts.

Source: Release notes for Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0.x and Symantec Network Access Control 11.0.x
