Endpoint Protection

I'm running Windows 8, and have been using Endpoint Protection that I received though my university when I was a grad student. I am now trying to upgrade to Windows 10, but when I try to do the upgrade, Windows is telling me that I need to uninstall Endpoint Proetection to proceed. However when I try to unistall Endpoint Protection the uninstall wizard cannot complete, and either fails or starts to rollback once the process has been nearly completed.  So I'm now stuck  - I can't uninstall Endpoint Protection and I therefore can't upgrade to Windows 10. Any thoughts on how to get Endpoitn Protection unistallated would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

You can either call support to get the cleanwipe utility, here:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO74877

Or you can try the manual uninstall route, here:

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH161956

In all honesty, using cleanwipe is quickest and most efficient. If you have issues, you can send me a PM and I'll help where I can.

I doubt if you can contact support and get cleanwipe, as you may not have the license details for the SEP that is installed on your PC.

In such case you can go with one of the following options.

    1) If you have administrator rights on your PC, you can follow the manual uninsyall process by following the document at the following link.

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH96924

Note: Use the link for Win7 as the uninstall procedure is the same for Win7 and Win8. If you are unable to disable "Tamper Protection" as mentioned in the initial step, you can skip that step by booting the machine in to Windows safe mode and then following the rest of the removal procedure.

    2) If you don't have administrator rights, can may contact the network administrator of the university for help.

    3) Backup your data on the PC and Reinstall Windows OS.
