  • 1.  Can't use Shred Free Space in Symantec Encryption Desktop

I just installed Symantec Encryption Desktopo 10.3.2 but I am unable to run "Shred Free Space".  I get the following error:

"Shredding could not be completed successfully.  You need administrator privileges to shred this volume.  Please launch Encryption Desktop (PGPdesk.exe) using run as administrator".  Here's what I've done so far:

    1. Checked to make sure I'm logged on as an administrator under my user ID
    2. From the start menu, checked the "advanced properties" of Symantec Encryption Desktop.  The "Run as Administrator" is unchecked AND greyed out; i.e., I can't select the option.

    How do I fix this?

Check if you can shred free space after disabling UAC:
