Capture, or versioning Altiris SMP 7.1 environment (patch solution) configuation and settings

Hello there,

Would you please advise if Altiris SMP 7.1 can capture or versoning its configuration and settings, especially for Patch Management Solution. What I'll do is to propose changes from current to new best practice configuration and setttings. And the current configuration, settings are working, Altiris SMP 7.1 would work better with the changes. But if it not, I'd like to switch back to the former ones.

There's no simple way to do this that I know of. I think you have 3 options:

  1. Document each existing and new setting so you can just revert them manually
  2. Export the xml for each item before you change it
  3. Back up the server and db and roll back if you don't like it.
