Both products are very good.

Both products are very good. But I would prefer Netbackup to Volume Manager. Netbackup is a very vast software and has lot to think and work on. Also, there are lot of organizations usingNetbackup Also. It would be gr8 if u have a little hands on exp on Unix and some knowledge on Storage devices. In and all, I think you should go toward the netbackup path and do proper certifications on the same

Hi Kurmarao can you provide

Hi Kurmarao can you provide us first of a backgound and what you have accomplished so far before we could actually give you an advise. because the other product may be good than the other but it would still depend on your qualifications.

Thanks,

Rainier

neither

Real answer: neither.  You shouldn't tie your career to a single product, company, or technology.

There are lots of people who invested time & effort into Novell Netware - and at the time it was worth it.  Times have changed, and now people are focusing on Microsoft Windows Servers. Those people who were limited in their vision to a single product are still looking for work. Times will change again, and those that are focusing on one product will be in trouble.

You're far better off to be working toward a technology or business function. Learn multiple products in "Storage technologies" or "Backup technologies".  Keep in mind that softwares comes & goes, companies come & go - but business needs will always be there.

Keep your view broad, and when the winds of change blow, move with them instead of fighting against them.
