CASO Alerting

Hello All, and Craig : )

I have inherited a right bag o bricks and am trying to put it back together. I have a 2008R2 server patched, running BE2010R2, patched.

The CASO server has about 70 MMS connected, all the jobs and media sets have been created on the CASO, the devices are all tape devices attached to the MMS's.

Each site has a site has a seperate contact who changes tape etc.

I would like to send each user alerts based on their jobs, changes etc from the CASO, however I dont think I can. I can create the contacts, but I cant specifiy which alerts go to who. You can specify that all tape inserts go to someone, or all job failures go to someone, but I want Backup "Job1" alerts to "Contact1" adn "Job2" alerts to go to "Contact2"

hopefully that makes some sense.

The only work around I can see is to use BEutil to ship the jobs to the MMS's and then set up the alerting on a site by site bases.

Can any one save me some Xmas worries please?

Hi,

Seems to be an oversight from a Symantec/CASO perspective. Ideally although you would want central manegement of your backup environment, in a case like yours, it's not possible.

When I used CASO (when I was an engineer) it was basically a single-pane of glass to monitor backup servers...each site managed its own backups, and this allowed me to set up custom alerts to custom mail groups.

I'd suggest adding this in as an Idea...it would make so much sense to have this functionality.

Other than that your only option would be to break the configuration you currently have and look at a localised/replicated option for your job logs and data.

Thanks!
