Cataloging a single tape from a set

Created: 27 Sep 2013 | 2 comments

I am trying to catalog a single tape from a set of tapes and have deselected the "Request all media in the sequence for catalog operations" on the tools -> options -> catalog window.  So, why is the catalog job still asking me for another tape in the sequence?  I already cataloged the first tape in the sequence, and it did not ask me for another tape, but the second catalog job is.   I thought the purpose of deselecting the option is so that the catalog job won't ask for additional tapes and will only catalog the one tape.  Would like to know, because this cataloging process is very time consuming and I need to know that it is not going to ask for additional tapes.

thanks,

Linda

Did you uncheck the “Use storage media-based catalogs” option?  It is under Click on the BE button ---> Configuration and Settings ---> Backup Exec Settings ----> Catalog

Since you have the entire set of tapes, it is easier to put the entire set of tapes in the tape library, scan/inventory them and then catalog all of them at one go.

You should be good in what you done and B.E. should not be requesting the additional media. Verify that this was configured globaly ... Below are a few documents for you records ..
