CCS11 The licenses used for data collection exceed the available license limit

    Posted Feb 06, 2013 09:32 AM

    Hi,

our company is evaluating CCS11 and we have set-up all-in-one CCS box that we use to collect message based data from our existing ESMv10 environment.

Things were working ok and recently we installed SCU 2012-4 and since that we receive following error when ruining data collection job:

    Date,Message,Details,Category,Asset,Asset type,Asset owner,
2/6/2013 2:57:23 PM,The licenses used for data collection exceed the available license limit.,"Warning: The available licenses for Database data collection, are not installed or are expired or exceed the required licenses limit.",,,,,
    2/6/2013 2:57:22 PM,Worker Process Terminated,,,,,,

I'm not sure if it's a license issue (we have 30 CCS Server licenses, consumed are 29) or some other issue.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Job run summary says:

    Data Collection Summary:
    Result Files Received: 28
    Asset Messages Received: 0
    System Messages Received: 1
Number of Assets collected against: 28
Number of Standards collected for: 1
    Standards Collected for:
    Windows TEST policy

    Data Collection completed in 1m:10s

Also under asset view/data collection I can see date of data collected but when I click view data collection details, it is blank.

I wanted to open support case but my.symantec.com is not working currently.

I've seen that message too, though it hasn't stopped any functionality from what I've seen yet. If the job didn't return any data, check: - other error messages - data collection scheduling options set to only collect data "if older than X days" - make sure your assets match the standard used (in the case of standards data collection)

What type of checks are in your standard?   Are you using message based standards or Raw data Collection standards?   Sometimes some of the checks might be looking for other asset types and you may need to get different types of licenses. If you are in the process of evaluating it, then contact your sales team and make sure they have given you the appropriate license keys.

    I've checks all suggestions:

    - data collection is not set to collect data "if older than X days"
    - our standard target type matches the assets

It was all working ok before we applied SCU 2012-4 so I think it is not issue with checks/standards/assets.

Anyway I've opened ticket with support.

    Hello,

I face for the second time the problem, and i know there are some DLL to replace:

    Symantec.CSM.AdHocQuery.Workflows.dll
    Symantec.CSM.Licensing.dll
    Symantec.CSM.LicensingInterfaces.dll
    Symantec.CSM.SCAP.Core.dll
    Symantec.CSM.Standards.AppsJobs.dll

The DLL should be provided in a Quick Fix, but i can't find the named Quick Fix.

I just opened a case, and i'll give here the results of it.

    Regards,

    Alex.

The support told me this issue should have been fixed with the PU2013-1

It looks like it didnt for me (but i applied the PU, before trying any queries)

I'll check 2 or 3 things tomorrow, and see what is going on.

Kyle_E, did you already applied PU2013-1?

Just received the following from Symantec Support:

The warning message that you are getting can be ignored. We have an internal technote article for the same as follows,

    Title
CCS 11 "Warning: The available licenses for Database data collection, are not installed or are expired or exceeed the required license limit." when performing non-database related queries.

    Problem

Both CER and Query jobs (Windows Machine) with a message:

"Warning: The available licenses for Database data collection, are not installed or are expired or exceeed the required license limit."

    Error

"Warning: The available licenses for Database data collection, are not installed or are expired or exceeed the required license limit."

    Environment

    CCS 11

    Windows 2008 R2 Server

    Cause

Unknown at this time. Possible defect.

    Solution

Ignore the warning for now, as it does not affect results from queries, or request a temporary database license from support or licensing or your SE.
