ccSvcHst not responding - SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1
Created: 10 May 2012 | 9 comments
Testing the new version of SEP 12.1 and every time I reboot my machine, I get an error telling me that ccSvcHst is not responding.
Running 12.1 RU1 MP1, upgraded from 12.1 RU1. XP SP3.
Is there an error log I can look at or generate?

Hi, you can check the Windows Application Logs for some error in LiveUpdate and the actual application ccSvcHst. You can verify this in the users %temp% folder and the Windows\Temp. look for .log extension. The latter is for failed installs.

Hello,
This issue should have been resolved in the SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1.

Is this issue occurying on all machines or on limited number of machines?
What if you uninstall the SEP, restart the machine and Reinstall a Fresh SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1 on the machine and check if that resolves?

It's occuring on the two machines it was installed on.
I can try a re-install, I'll need to schedule time to do it though.

Hello,
Could you please test again the following -
1) What happens if you uninstall the SEP, restart the machine and Reinstall a Fresh SEP 12.1 RU1 MP1 on the machine?
2) What happens if you migrate 12.1 RU1 MP1 over SEP 12.1 RU1?
Hope that helps!!

Uninstalled and reinstalled. Problem still exists,
Same problems when I migrate RU1 MP1 over RU1.

I've seen it on a my clients too (RU1 MP1). I haven't looked into it much though.
Does %temp%\SEP_INST.log say anything about starting the services? And, is this on a Windows 7 OS?

I didn't see anything in there.
This is happening on both XP and Win7.

Anything else installed that might prevent SEP from running? Installed here can also apply to malware.
Try either a Support Tool for the Load Point Diagnostics or the Power Eraser...or both. :)
