Centralized Exceptions for SEP 11 for Mac with Parallels
Dear All,
Does anyone know what the recommended Centralized Exceptions would be for a SEP 11.0.6200.0203 for Mac client, to ensure best possible performance when running Parallels desktop for Mac 4 and 5...
We've currently got 2 clients with Norton AntiVirus for Mac 11.1.2, which were configured with help from Sandra.G and we set an exception of .parallels-vm-directory on each Norton installation. I'm looking to bring both of these Mac's under control of SEPM and therefore would like to put SEP 11.0.6 MP 2 onto them. However, when trying to set the same centralized exception in the SEPM console for the SEP install, it simply states "Please speciify the valid path."
After discussion with one of our Mac users, we tried /users/*/documents/.parallels-vm-directory but again I get the "Please specify the Valid Path" error. What currently has been set and at least is taken by the console as a valid path is:
/users/*/documents/parallels-vm-directory
However, I have no idea whether that will actually do anything of any relevance or not. Therefore if anyone knows the correct path it would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
John

Hi Mudit,
Thanks for the reply - while it didn't directly resolve my query, it was helpful in its own rights.
For our two Mac's (1 running Parallels 4 and the other Parallels 5) we created the following centralized exceptions and performance on the one machine I'd rolled out SEP 11.0.6 to so far, has returned to normal:
[HOME] Documents/Parallels/ (once added shows up as %[HOME]%Documents/Parallels/)
/Users/Shared/Parallels/
Also from the 'Recommendations for installing Symantec Endpoint Protection for Macintosh 11.0.6 / Symantec Antivirus for Macintosh 10.x on Mac OS X Server' document I turned off the Scan compressed files option under Antivirus and Antispyware Policy - Mac Settings - File System Auto-Protect - Scan Details
Centralized Exceptions on Mac
Hi Charlosa,
I know the thread's marked as resolved, but you may want to see this document too:
How to create a Security Risk Exception for a Mac client from the Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM)
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH131707
See under Technical Information for the definition of the prefixes, for any future possible exclusions. Also bear in mind that at this time exclusions only work for Auto-Protect, not manual or scheduled scans.
