  • 1.  Change the NTP setting on Symantec brightmail applaince VM edition ?

    Hi People,

Where can I find the configuration to change the NTP setting for the Symantec Messaging Gateway v10.5.1-2 ?

since this is a VMware virtual machine, do I need to change the VMware tools or not really to worry about it ?

    Thanks.

I highly recommend that you sync the VMWare host to the same NTP server. I have seen many cases where a VMWare hosts' time was off and it effected the VM guests.

ok, so from the SMG perspective, there is no way to point the NTP server externally because it is synched to the Guest OS and the Guest OS (VM) is assumed to be always in synched.

    Is that correct ?

@RahulG: do I need to reboot or restart the whole server / appliance VM to make it into effect ?

No, that is not what I am saying. I suggest you sync both with an NTP server, not just one or the other.

ok, so for the guest Linux OS I can just SH into it and then change it manually right ?
