Hello Admins

This forum is continuation of below forum:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/deletions-expiry-discovery-accelarator

I am trying to change retention category on an histrocail vault store & journal archives on that vault store. I cannot figure any easy trick around it (like EVPM or VAC). However, I found below forum which talks about changing retention category via SQL:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/enterprise-vault-changing-retention-category

use evvaultstore1

update View_saveset_archive_vault

set retentioncategoryidentity = '1'

from View_saveset_archive_vault ss

Inner Join enterprisevaultdirectory.dbo.archiveview av on av.vaultentryid = ss.archivepointid

where ss.RetentionCategoryIdentity = '4' AND av.ArchiveName = 'Mohawk Marvin'

I just modified above a bit, to use "Select" Statement to see what this query is hitting, and I got like 4800K hits and rising. So I wanted to make sure that the query indeed is hitting only archive named "Mohawk Marvin" (theoritically it is, but better safe than sorry ;-)

I also used below SQL query to determine what are the histroical journl archive names in that particular vault store (just if anyone needs or interested)

SELECT VaultStoreName AS 'Vault Store', ArchiveName AS Archive, DatabaseDSN AS 'Database', SQLServer AS 'SQL Server'
FROM VaultStoreEntry vse, Archive a
WHERE vse.VaultStoreEntryId = a.VaultStoreEntryId
GROUP BY VaultStoreName, ArchiveName, DatabaseDSN, SQLServer

I am not sure if retention category could be assigned on vault store level or via EVPM sciprt/ini file on historical archives somehow?

Thanks in advance !

this really can't be done natively in EV due to the way that the retention information is stored outside of sql. we have a custom tool that was written for this purpose which you might want to have a look at. i'll send you a message so we can discuss in more detail.
