  • 1.  Changing Drive Mappings for GSS V2.5 USB boot

    Posted Feb 24, 2010 04:41 AM
    Hi,

I have spent many hours crafting a USB boot drive with all my NIC Drivers. It maps to my server using \\home\images.

I have built a new server specifically for Ghosting & want to change my mapping to \\newserver\images2. I dont want to have to rebuild
my USB stick using the Ghost Boot Wizard as I wil have to reassemble all the drivers:(

Can someone advise where I find the folders/files to make this change? I made the change in
a folder named ‘ghost’ & a file named ‘start.bat’ at the root of the drive. However, this didnt do the trick as it kept
    mapping back to \\home\images.

    I am stumped

    Ozzie,

If you added the drivers through the Ghost Boot Wizard, you will not have to repeat that step; once drivers are added to a build of WIndows PE, they are in there. And in this case, the only option is to recreate the boot USB drive, anyway. But please note that you do not need to add the drivers an aditional time.

Alternately, after booting to your current boot USB drive, you could manually run the net use command. This is certainly less convenient, as the purpose of a boot package is to take care of this automatically.

    Thank you,

    Randy

    Randy,

Many thanks for your excellent advice. The drivers were retained & I was able to create another USB boot disk with different mappings without re creating the drivers. What a relief!

I now need to rebuild my GSS imaging server. Again I dont want to loose my crafted package of drivers. Is there a way that I can EXPORT the drivers & then when my Server is rebuilt & GSS is re installed, IMPORT my pre built driver file?

    Thanks,

    Ozzie
